March 2015

BEING VICTORIOUS WHILE LIVING IN A MAD, MAD WORLD!

The term "March Madness" is used to describe the chaos that occurs during the Basketball Tournaments that occur this month. "March Madness" consists of last-second, buzzer-beating baskets, the euphoria of winning to play another and the agony of losing and going home. Teams that appear overmatched on paper, somehow manage to pull out a win in spite of the odds against them.

Similarly, we find ourselves living in a seemingly "mad mad world", where God will sometimes allow us to be put into what appears to be the most losing of situations. But He does this, just so He can prove Himself and His power, by helping you achieve a miraculous victory. As a result you can give testimony of God's favor in your life to others, either by delivering you from your trail or by granting you sufficient grace to go through your trial, as you say to them, "Let me tell you what a difference God has made in my life!"

By far the greatest testimony we can share with others of God's victorious power is, how He was able to take us, who were conceived and born in sin and destined for an eternity in hell - and transform us into Saints through His amazing grace and the shed blood of Jesus on the cross. As a result, we are now God's workmanship, created for good works in Christ, friends of God, and the ultimate winners in this life and for all eternity. As Romans 8:31 asks, "If God is for us, who can be against us?"

With God on your side, you can be confident that you will come out victorious, no matter how defeated you may feel- no matter how bleak your circumstance in life.

The Palms cut from the Palm trees were looked upon as symbols of victory at the time of Jesus, while the cross was viewed as a curse sign at the time. But it was on a cross that Jesus made it possible for you to overcome sin, death and the devil by willingly giving up his life in our place. What was once a curse sign has now become for Christians a sign of victory!

In mathematic symbols, the plus sign has a cross-like shape. And so whenever you happen to see a cross, I suggest that you would view it as God's plus sign in your life. That you might be reminded how He is able to transform even the most negative situations in your life into nothing but positives, as He demonstrates His victorious power in your life.

With the assurance that you are on God's winning side, you can face any situation in life knowing that you will come out victorious in Jesus!

For as redeemed people of God, our shouts of praises, loud Hosannas, and joyous Alleluias are not just built on empty hopes and dreams! Instead, they are founded upon the surety of the event we look forward to celebrating this year on April 5th, the Resurrection of our Lord.

Because of the hope of the resurrection, we can truly say with joyous enthusiasm the words of 1 Corinthians 15:57, "But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!"

Because He Lives!
